United Medical Centers has partnered with Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center, Safe Kids World Wide, South Texas Regional Advisory Council, and GM Foundation to bring awareness to our community on Hot Car Safety. Statistics show that in just 10 minutes, the temperature of a parked vehicle can rise 20 degrees. The crack of a window, even by inches, is no match to combat the rising heat. This heat can be deadly, especially for children because their body temperatures rise five times faster than adults. With this display, we hope to bring awareness to a very important cause and remind our community to always "look before you lock."
United Medical Centers will be displaying the vehicle and thermometer at our clinic located at 2525 N. Veterans Blvd., in Eagle Pass, TX, beginning today, Tuesday, June 12 through Friday, June 15.
UMC would like to thank Adan Ortiz, General Manager, and Salvatore Battaglia with Brown Chevy Buick GMC of Eagle Pass for generously providing the vehicle for this very important event. We would also like to thank Safe Kids World Wide for providing the large stand up thermometer and Raul Casares, RN, FDRMC Emergency Room Director, and Nelson Dungo, RN, FDRMC Trauma Coordinator for their assistance in coordinating this event
United Medical Centers was presented with a Proclamation from Mayor Ramsey English Cantu for “Hot Car Awareness Week”
