United Medical Centers
UMC is a TJC Accredited Community Health Center
(CHC) whose mission is to assure the availability and
accessibility of basic primary and preventive health
care services to all residents of the service area.
History
United Medical Centers (UMC) is a Community
Health Center providing primary health care services
to both insured and uninsured patients in a bilingual, bicultural
community. Our tri-county service area encompasses Maverick,
Val Verde and Kinney counties, and is located in Southwest
Texas on the U.S. Mexico border.
UMC maintains eight service sites and offers Pediatric, OB/GYN, Family Medicine,
Internal Medicine, Podiatry and Dental Services. In
addition, our Centers offer in-house services such as
Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social Services, Family
Planning, WIC, and HIV/AIDS Testing and Counseling.
Founded in 1973, United
Medical Centers celebrates 38 years of service in 2011!
FTCA Deemed Health Center
United Medical Centers is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).
Medical and dental providers are deemed federal employees, with resultant coverage under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) for actions within the scope of deemed employment, pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n). Accordingly, claims or notice of medical malpractice claims should be submitted by a claimant to the Office of General Counsel at the address below:
